Fantasie in F minor, D. 940 (for piano four-hands)

Franz Schubert

D. 940

Murray Perahia, Radu Lupu

1984

Gil's top choice. 'Wonderful touch and beauty in that lilting soft theme. And then wonderful virtuosity as well' from both pianists. 'Well recorded.'

Apple Music — Schubert’s Fantasia in F minor on an album with Mozart’s Sonata for Two Pianos.

Emil Gilels, Elena Gilels

1978

This version 'has a little bit more bravura to it, a little bit more assertive and dramatic' with Emil's 'beautiful, colorful, strong tone' (and his daughter Elena 'is no slouch either'). 'Excellent sound.'
