Cello Concerto in E minor

Edward Elgar

E minor

Jacqueline du Pré / Sir John Barbirolli / London Symphony

1965

A 'no-brainer.' One of the most famous classical recordings 'everyone has to hear.' Passionate, heartfelt, warm-hearted, it 'really brings home the emotions.' A 'magic recording'.

André Navarra / Sir John Barbirolli / Hallé Orchestra

1957

An earlier Barbirolli recording. Sound is rougher, but a 'very warm-hearted, beautiful version' with 'a lot of energy'.
