Piano Quintet & Piano Quartet

Robert Schumann

Piano and strings

Piano Quintet; Piano Quartet mid-70s Coupled with the Piano Quartet.

Gil's top choice. Very well recorded, beautifully played, and everything is beautifully judged. A great way to get both works.

Piano Quintet 1955 Mono recording. A little rough sounding.

The interpretation is just wonderful and engaging. They have that romantic repertoire in their bones.

Piano Quintet 1966 Fairly clear stereo.

The proverbial aristocratic interpretation. It has nobility, beauty of phrasing, power, and drama. Just gorgeous.

Piano Quintet 1934

Exciting, imaginative playing, captured in fairly clear sound for its time.

Piano Quintet (abridged) 1920s

A historical supplement valued for its romantic freedom and spontaneity. The performance is abridged and the sound very dim.
